In line with the museum concept, visitors are encouraged to be intearactive:
in addition to the guest book, which already contains many entries from
all over the world (from Oldenburg to Tokyo), there is also a cassette
recorder to record questions, comments, impressions or even literary texts
by visitors, who thus become part of the museum library as witnesses of
our time.
This aural treasure chest already contains excerpts of readings by school
children from Meran (Italy), Meißen and Freital.
The Erich Kästner Museum also offers young visitors in particular
the opportunity, in addition to exploring and discovering in the museum,
of leaving their own mark in the physical and virtual exhibition areas
and of recording their wishes and comments on Kästner, his work and
the museum in writing or on cassettes, as well as for our global home
on the PC. The Erich Kästner Museum invites school classes to spend
an exciting and unusual German class in the Villa and simultaneously to
contribute to the content of the museum. Each school group can nominate
1-2 pupils from their ranks to read Kästner texts of their choice.
In time, a living collage of Kästner's work will be created which
will also be of interest to future generations.
